Lanzarote
The lovely island of Lanzarote is the most easterly of the Canary islands situated 70 miles off the African coast. The islands economy is now mainly tourism which has taken over from it's agricultural and fishing past. Many of Lanzarotes resorts have grown up around it's old fishing villages and most of the recent development has been done sympathetically, many of Lanzarote's holiday resorts retain their original character and charm.One of the main reasons for the popularity of Lanzarote and indeed all the Canary island its the wonderful all year round climate, average temperature of around 22C is normal for the island.
The town of Arrecife is Lanzarotes capital and is home to over half the islands population as well as being the center for political and commercial life.
Lanzarote's holiday resorts are some of the best that the Canary islands have to offer: These include Puerto del Carmen which is possibly the most visited of the islands resorts, as well as having one of the longest beaches on the island (over six kms of golden sand) Puerto del Carmen offers first class accommodation and an excellent selection of bars and restaurants.
The other main holiday resorts include Playa Blanca and Costa Teguise, again excellent resorts that have become the choice of many of Lanzarote's returning holiday visitors due to the excellent facilities they offer and the range of good quality hotels, apartments and villas. Location
The Serendipity villas are located in a quiet residential area of Puerto del Carmen, approximately 10 minutes gentle stroll from the Old Town square of the resort. The square is surrounded by a number of excellent restaurants some of which enjoy pretty views of the harbour with its traditional fishing boats. The evening brings the resort to life and the ambience of the music bars drifts out into the night air. To visit the local beaches, the sandy cove of the old town is just a short stroll, or the long sandy beaches of the New Town are the place to find the lively water sports and beach life that you would expect from a well established resort.
The award-winning Playa Grande beach is sandy and gently sloping making it popular with families. You can hire parasols and sun-loungers here, or explore some of the other rocky coves which are dotted around the coastline if you would prefer something more private. There are several windsurfing and diving schools in Puerto del Carmen offering equipment hire and lessons, as the coastline offers the perfect conditions for both these sports. Swimming, running and cycling are also popular in resort, with several bike hire companies along the promenade.
The resort offers plenty of opportunities for retail therapy and has a range of excellent shops. Souvenir shops line the Avenida or you can browse an array of local crafts and up-market luxury good at the Biosfera shopping centre.
Also nearby is the incredible National Park of Timanfya, a 50km square area whose landscape has been shaped by past volcanic activity on the island, the most recent eruption being nearly two centuries ago. Various tours are offered in the park, including a camel ride if you are feeling adventurous, and you can enjoy a meal cooked over natural geothermal heat at the El Diablo restaurant.Villa Walkthrough
Accommodation:The three storey accommodation sleeps up to 6 and comprises: Lounge/diner with comfortable sofa, Satellite TV (no card)with DVD player, patio doors leading to the pool area with built in BBQ; well equipped kitchen with microwave, hob, fridge/freezer, washing machine, kettle, toaster and iron; stairs leading down to 1 double bedroom; 1 twin bedroom, 1 bathroom. There are further steps from the lounge up to the master double bedroom and its en suite bathroom. There is also a large terrace leading from the upstairs with good open views towards the southern coast.
Outside:Each property has its own spacious sunbathing terrace together with a private pool (aclimatised in the winter months). The pool has a safety mesh fence with a lockable gate so that young children cannot enter the pool area without supervision. The fence can be collapsed if there are no children in your party and you do not wish to use it. Built in barbecue.
