Arrecife Lanzarote
Arrecife is the capital of Lanzarote and also the seat of the islands government. Lanzarotes international airport is also located in Arrecife. The town has grown up around the harbour which one of the closest harbours to the African coast.
If you want an alternative to lying on the beach during your holiday in Lanzarote Arrecife is well worth a visit, the town has two castles San Gabriel castle which houses an archaeological museum and the San José castle which has been restored in recent years and is now home to the Contemporary Art Museum.
A good selection of hotels and apartments are available in Arrecife which is ideal for a base to explore the rest of the island of Lanzarote.
